Then enjoy a trip full of nature and adventure visiting the Manu National Park. Manu has unique flora and fauna. The tour is one of the best wildlife viewing experiences in the entire Amazon rainforest. Enjoy its areas where wildlife is still undisturbed and plentiful. So far 15.000 plant species, over 1000 bird species and 200 species of mammals have been identified in the Manu National Park.

ITINERARY

Day 01 ARRIVAL – LIMA

Welcome and reception at the International Airport "Jorge Chavez, transfer to hotel. Overnight in Lima.

Day 02 CUSCO: CITY TOUR + 04 RUINS

Transfer to the airport to take your flight to Cusco. Morning at leisure. In the Afternoon we will enjoy a visit around the city and surrounding archeological sites, the visit includes the Main Square, the cathedral, Koricancha Temple, which was a military and religious center of Incas Empire dedicated to its principal god, the sun. The nearby archaeological remains of Tambomachay, Inca Baths, Puca Pucara, center of military control; Kenko Amphitheatre, evidence of mystic character from that time, and the Fortress of Sacsayhuaman. Return to hotel. Overnight in Cusco.
Meals included: Breakfast.

Day 03 SACRED VALLEY TOUR WITH OVERNIGHT

We will begin our day exploring the beautiful countryside with a full day tour to the Sacred Valley. We visit the town of Pisac, famous for its bustling market and beautiful Incan ruins that loom over the city.
Market days in Pisac: Every day, but a little more local on a Sunday, with fruits and food stands.
Our Sacred Valley tour runs every day, but if clients have a particular interest in visiting on market days, they should organize their itinerary.
Time for Lunch. In the afternoon, we will visit Ollantaytambo Inca huge complex where realized administrative, agricultural and religious functions. Here you can see great rock walls, temples and palaces. Afternoon free to enjoy the beautiful landscape. Overnight in Sacred Valley.

Day 04 OLLANTAYTAMBO / DEPARTURE TO AGUAS CALIENTES

Free morning; at appropriate time transfer to the train station to continue trip to Aguas Calientes, the trip takes about 2 hours. Welcome & transfer to hotel. Free afternoon, we recommend visiting the thermal baths of Aguas Calientes. Overnight in Aguas Calientes.

Day 05 MACHUPICCHU / CUSCO

Very early (0500 hrs) you can ascend to Machu Picchu to enjoy the beautiful sunrise or if you wish and are in good physical condition, you can climb to Huayna Picchu "Young Mountain" from where you have a spectacular view of the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu. At 11:00 hrs will find the guide to take the guided tour of Machu Picchu, this citadel remained unknown for centuries until by accident in 1911 was discovered by Hiram Bingham. This Inka Center is the greatest wonders of the world. The guided archaeological site of Machu Picchu tour includes the visit through the urban area which houses the major architectural elements of the Inca city, also we will explore other important areas of this impressive citadel such as the Sun Temple, Intiwatana, group of sacred rock, temple of the three windows, the mausoleum, etc. Buffet Lunch at Sanctuary Lodge (the only hotel in the citadel) to have option to return and enjoy the ruins of Machu Picchu to take the afternoon bus back to town. Then take the train to come back to Cusco. Transfer to hotel. Overnight in Cusco

*** The program is considered entry to the citadel of Machu Picchu, if you want to climb Huayna Picchu must consider an additional $ 12.00 per person to issue a compound ticket Machupicchu + Huaynapicchu (first schedule: 07:00 – 08:00 hrs.) ***

Day 06 DAY AT LEISURE

Day free at leisure for personal activities. Overnight in Cusco.
Meals included: Breakfast.

Day 07 CUSCO- NINAMARCA – ORQUIDEAS DE SAN PEDRO LODGE

We leave Cusco early in the morning in one of our vehicles. Approximately mid-morning we visit the interesting tombs of Ninamarca, commonly known as “Chullpas”. We continue to Paucartambo, a picturesque Spanish colonial town, and then to the Acjanacu pass, which marks the beginning of the Cultural Zone of Manu Biosphere Reserve. Here, a thick cloak of clouds provides perpetual humidity and makes an ideal habitat for epiphytic plants such as bromeliads. This varied and fascinating world is home of the Cock of the Rock, Spectacled Bear, Orchids, Tree Ferns (one of the oldest living plants), mosses and lichens. This cloud forest exists between 2,000 and 3,500 m.a.s.l. and at least 50% of the plant species found here are endemic to this region. We have lunch on the way with a spectacular view, then we continue overnight in our “Orquídeas de San Pedro Lodge”.

Day 08 COCK OF THE ROCK OBSERVATION – PILCOPATA – ERIKA LODGE

Today we wake up very early to observe the Cock of the Rock (Rupicola peruviana), Peru’s national bird from a platform. The male birds are a vibrant reddish orange, and as many as several dozen come together for an exhibition of a mating ritual dance in a place called Lek. The males display their crest, showing off and posturing for the females. The females, fewer in number, watch to select the most suitable males. After breakfast we continue in our vehicle down the narrow road between waterfalls and canyons toward the town of Pilcopata (*1) and then to Atalaya Port where we have lunch, here we board our covered, outboard motor boat and head down the Alto Madre de Dios River for approximately 50 minutes toward our private reserve of “Erika” a comfortable / rustic lodge owned also by Manu Adventures where we will hike through the interesting trail system that this transitional area between high and low jungle offers. Overnight at the lodge.
Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch and dinner.

Day 09 ERIKA LODGE

Erika Lodge is located in a transition zone between high and low jungle (500 m.a.s.l. to 1,150 m.a.s.l), After the breakfast you guide explains the different habitats, altitude range and the high diversity of wildlife found around this lodge, so immediately after breakfast, we will start walking near the riverbanks, during the hike our guide will talk about insects, medicinal plants, trees, reptiles, mammals, etc. We have lunch then we board our boat, and after five minutes, we will walk for another 30 minutes approximately though a very nice trail to observe and talk about the interesting flora fond such as sensitive plants, Heliconias, fruit plantations, etc. until we arrive to Machuwasi Lake where with the help of a telescope we can observe great egrets, tucanets, carpenters, Keskadees, cardinals, etc. Short night walk to observe American bullfrogs, horned frogs, tree frogs and an incredible variety of insects.

Day 10 MACAW CLAY LICK COLLPA – RETURN TO CUSCO

This day we will get up very early to board our boat again for only five minutes down river to our Parrot clay Lick called “Collpa” on the riverbanks, where many species of parrots such as the blue headed parrot, white-eyed parakeet, feed for mineral and salt supplements to their diet of seeds and fruits. We return to Erika lodge have breakfast immediately we board our boat to Atalaya Port where the bus will drive us back to Cusco city; we have lunch on the way, arriving late in the evening.
Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch.

**** We can consider a flight return to Lima after the tour with Manu Wildlife Center.

Day 11 CUSCO / LIMA

At opportune hour transfer to airport for flight to Lima. Reception and transfer to hotel. Overnight in Lima.
Meals included: Breakfast.

Day 12 LIMA – CITY TOUR COLONIAL & MODERN LIMA - COUNTRY OF ORIGIN

In the morning, we start the City tour by colonial & modern Lima, where we visit the Main Square, Government Palace, the Cathedral, the Monastery and Church of San Francisco, famous for its catacombs; colonial houses, among others. Then visit the residential areas of Miraflores and San Isidro. At the appropriate time transfer to the airport to take your international flight towards your country of origin.
Meals included: Breakfast.

*1 Free Option: Here in Pilcopata town we will make the final settings for a 1½ hour river rafting (class I and II) trip down the Koshñipata River where we will have the opportunity for a dip and of course enjoy the spectacular view of the Koñeq Canyon.

*2 Free Option: Canopy Zip Down: At Erika Lodge, our guests traverse from tree to tree and platform to platform using pulleys on horizontal traverse cables zip lines), as they sail through the treetops of the tropical rainforest canopy, and over the trails far below. Expert guides assist you in this exciting journey through the different layers of the rain forests and explain what’s going on around you from the time you leave the ground, until you rappel back down to the forest floor.

Manu National Park is not endemic area about Malaria neither Yellow fever you can bring a good insect repellent but if you decide to put the yellow fever vaccination for prevention you can do it 10 days before start your trip to the jungle.
