ITINERARY

Day 01 ARRIVAL - NAUTA - BOARDING - RIVER MARAÑON

Arrival in Lima, a 1 hour 25 minute journey to the heart of the Peruvian Amazon. Your guides await you at Iquitos International Airport.
Transfer to the port of Nauta. Enjoy the rural nature of the area through our trip 1½ hours to reach the small town of Nauta. The Aria Amazon, your home for the next three nights ahead.

Boarding and check- in. Welcome to Aria Amazon. Accommodation at the suite overlooking the river. When the boat begins to move begins one of the great adventures of life. Ascend to the observation deck, if desired, to enjoy the view, as Iquitos Aria leaves behind.

Over the next three days, the Aria Amazon cruise along the major tributaries of the Amazon River and the mighty Amazon itself, to remote destinations visited by only a few of even the most experienced world travelers.
Explanation of drills and safety measures in the observation deck. Before dinner, participate in our safety drills on board and then to enjoy within our Lounge with air conditioning, then meet the cruise director and have first briefings of our naturalist guides about the adventures ahead.

Welcome Dinner. A toast for your trip with finely selected South American wines to accompany the kitchen Amazon influence of Aqua Expeditions by Executive Chef Pedro Miguel Schiaffino, whose restaurant, Malabar, is among the best in Lima. Healthy and innovative recipes Schiaffino incorporate the freshest local products - fruits, fish, spices - adding culinary adventure for our travels. (Menus always offer options including a vegetarian option - please let us know any specific dietary requirements in advance of your trip). Maybe a drink at the observation deck, counting constellations.

Day 02 TUESDAY: RIO MARAÑON - CHOROYACU - SAN PEDRO DE TIPISHCA - Pacaya Samiria

Our delicious breakfast buffet every day offers a wide selection of traditional egg dishes, Peruvian specialties, homemade baked goods and freshly squeezed juices, made from delicious tropical fruit that has never tried before.

Expedition Nature. On board our comfortable excursion boats for their first adventure. Life jackets, ponchos, rubber boots and plenty of cold potable water are always available for you on board the boats.

Within the Amazon forest, crossing over a stream of black water incredible vast as your guide explains about the rainforest. Explore what scientists call a "gallery forest" due to its close vegetation creating a tunnel of leaves. As we float through this tunnel, our naturalist guides help you see parrots, macaws, and furry squirrel monkeys in the trees along the river banks.

Return to Aria Amazon followed by lunch, noon inspired Peruvian food in our room with air conditioning in the Aria Amazon.

Jungle Walk and visit to a village. Walk into the jungle to meet native people Amazonia. With our guides as their interpreters, ask about subsistence farming in the Amazon and they will tell you how to grow these plants and wild trees. Here, deep in the primary forest, the guidelines identify for you the fruit trees and medicinal plants that make natural pharmacy of the Amazon.

Back to Aria Amazon followed by a delicious dinner of our Executive Chef.

Guided by Selva / Siesta / Monkey and Dolphin Expedition rides

Breakfast and guided walk through the jungle tour / Siesta / Monkey and Dolphin Expedition. Our naturalist guides will take on your ride through the jungle, as he provides an introduction to some of the sustainable development projects in the Amazon. Visit one, where villagers use plants for the production of palm oil.Go deeper into the jungle, where he encounters more wildlife and learn about the natural pharmacy Amazon medicinal plants. Stroll under a canopy of kapok (Ceiba pentandra), the tallest trees in the Amazon basin

Back to Aria Amazon and lunch followed by a siesta.

Monkey and Dolphin Expedition. In this final issue of late, is very likely to see two different types of the Amazon river dolphins water, gray and pink dolphins. Also our naturalist guides help you detect some 13species of marmosets Pacaya Samiria, including howler monkeys, dusky titi monkeys and pygmy marmoset.Beware of crocodiles, and keep your binoculars in hand, as it is likely to see more than 200 species of birds.

As the sun sets and our reflector lights, keep your eyes out for alligators, boas, tarantulas and frogs.

Back to Aria Amazon and dinner.

Day 04 THURSDAY: YANAYACU PUCATE - TAHUAYO / LAKE CHARO

Exploration Yanayacu Pucate and breakfast aboard the boats. Exit to the river at 6: 30 AM as the sun rises to see and hear the sounds of wildlife, including parrots, macaws, toucans, and many kinds of monkeys, as well as some species of "surprise" that never can have seen before. We pack a luxurious "breakfast bag" to you, of homemade baked goods, light snacks, fresh juices and hot Peruvian coffee. This is also a popular dolphin feeding, so it will not be the only ones who enjoy the happy meal here.

Back to Aria Amazon. At this turning point, we started to sail down the river to Iquitos.

Lunch and river tour and fishing trip on Lake Charo. Navigate from the Amazon River to explore the dark waters of its tributaries. Keep your binoculars handy to see the abundant wildlife: sparrows, hawks, monkeys and sloths share this spectacular stage with us. We continue the journey to the beautiful Lake Charo, which capture some of the more than 3. 000 species of tropical fish that live in the Amazon basin is assured. Guides know all the best tricks to attract piranhas, those small carnivorous fish mostly with a great reputation for its voracious bite.

Back to Aria Amazon. Once back on board, the ship continues downstream, sailing toward Iquitos overnight.

Crew Presentation at 9 PM. After dinner, naturalist guides introduce the members of the crew who may have failed because they have been busy "between racks" to create seamless experience Aqua Expeditions.

Day 05 DEPARTURE - LANDING IN IQUITOS - CITY TOUR - TRANSFER OUT

Breakfast and morning excursion (depends on the level of the river). Weather and time permitting, we will march in this last chance to see how people live along the Amazon by visiting the riverside community of Belen, in Iquitos by boat. Here, where the houses and shops actually float on the river during some months, visit the traditional food market that supports the entire Peruvian Amazon, where all the inhabitants of the Amazon sell and buy their products.

Back to Aria Amazon at 11: 00 am, followed by an early lunch. Share a last lunch with fellow travelers, before you start your journey back home.

Disembarkation / Manatee Rescue Center / Transfer to the airport. On the way to the airport in Iquitos, your naturalist guides will visit the Manatee Rescue Center, where biologists and volunteers care for Amazon endangered manatees that conservation authorities have rescued. Learn about this very successful project, supported by Aqua Expeditions since its inception, and efforts to help these lovable mammals.See how manatees are cared for and prepared for reintroduction into the wild.

The check- in at Iquitos International Airport at 4: 30 PM. Your guides will help you with the check, and stay with you until your time to board your flight back to Lima.
